Is there a way to add weight to the front end of an 8N? I'd rather not buy $200/wheel weights.

I do have a grille.

Do you have a front bumper?
I added weight to mine once by taking a piece of 1 inch pipe, heating it and making it into a "J" shape. Hang the J on the tab between the ball and the slats. Slide barbells from my weight bench up the pipe and put a pin through a hole on the bottom.
I added about 150Lbs to mine this way and it was enough for my purpose. It's not a long term solution, but I only needed it there for a few minutes.

if you have a front bumper with horizontal slats, bet some surplus barbell weights at a yard sale, a long bolt or althread rod, some nuts and large fender washer. bolt thru the bumper and use the washers to hold in place.

Here's a quick temporary solution I came up with once for my 850. I also have wheel weights on the front (90 lbs per wheel). The two pieces of railroad track and the 4" diameter steel pin weighed another 200 lbs all together. I wouldn't recommend this as a long-term solution, but it worked for me at the time.

Theres a number of ways to do it. #1 fill the tires with fluid. Wiper fluid is my choice on that one. #2 if you have a bumper make a box that hooks to it and then fill it with rocks, cement blocks etc. #3 make forms and make your own weights out of cement and set them up so they will botl onto the front wheels. #4 buy a front end loader and put it on and then you have the weight and also a loader to use

The tractor I grew up using is my late grandfather's Ford 1600. About the same size as an N - diesel power with live hydraulics and pto. Grampa filled two big coffee cans with lead (melted and poured in) and had threaded rod sticking out the top. He attached these to the bottom of the tool box that was bolted to the front bumper. He used the tractor for logging, and kept about 3 big logging chains wrapped around the front bumper, too. Without all that on it, the front would get light with the 6 foot brush hog (which it has more than enough power to use). With the weight, it picks up more than it probably should.

What about filling the front tires with CC or WWF??

That would ad about 100 lbs. If I recall 7 gallons per tire.

atleast on a 16" x 6.0 tire. Not sure about the thin 19"rs

Some of the older front axle mounted "bumpers" are fairly easy to modify so that a weight box could be added.
