My 48 8n cuts out and misses at higher rpms.. new plugs, points, condensor, wiring ,distributor..I fooled around with the carb and checked all the screens...screwed the main adjusting knob in intill it almost died and then backed it off till it ran smooth (as smooth as it gets) but still cutting out a little at high speeds?? Any help is appreciated.

Do you have copper core wires? Is the cap and rotor good shape? (no carbon arcs). Points set correctly on all four lobes 0.025 gap? Spark Blue Hot?

How is your spark?

Is your distribuitor in good order ( advance mechanism move freely? )

White is good.

Will it still miss with a little more main jet enrichment? try that and post back.

I have it as good as I can get it ..main jet 2 turns out and front about 1 turn out and the slow idle so it just ticks..barely.. and seems to be smoother but still a little lopey...like an old GTO at higher RPM's

The mainjet IS the front one.. closest tot he front of the tractor.. sounds like you got your idle and mainjets mixed up.. that would certaintly cause your problems... 1 turn out on the front, downpointing mainjet is pretty lean.

Idleairjet is on the side.. etc..

Need to wait till tomorrow to crank it up...had a valve cover oil leak and had to take the governor back off to get the valve cover off...had to silicon up the old gaskets and its not dry yet. Dont know how I did it but the cork valve cover gasket was screwed up on the r lower corner...nothing in the way , sitting on my stool, rite in front of my face...brain fart I guess.

Those cork gaskets are fragile.. and can break if overtightened.. probably nothing you did.. etc.

let me know when you test it ..
