Is there some kind of equipment that can be attached to a 8N to rake up pine needles and/leaves etc? We have quite an area of flat ground under pine trees which collect needles which are a pain to rake up and the blower does not do much - plus a lot accumulate on the long drive we have - would be great to have some kind of giant rake like thing to gather this up for burning - but would not dig into the ground.

I tried an ad in the local paper:

"Free pine needles and leaves.....you collect"

But strangely no takersthird party image

Local golf course just got one of these and claim they are very effective on pine needles, etc.
Goes on a lawn tractor amd is somewhat pricey, but will work well if you're up for it.

Thanks,

I dont mind the leaves so much as the pine needles - the leaves break down quickly and form a nice mulch in areas you dont want to look pristine - the dang needles (especially from the Ponderosa pines) are slippery, a fire risk (ever put a handful of them on a fire?) and dont break down at all.

Most commercial operations (landscaper, golf course, etc) opt for PTO driven blowers or vacs - not cheap but very effective. Not sure the N's are very well suited to this type of equipement due to gearing and PTO issues.

If you have the room between the trees a hay rake would do the job sort of. But you would end up with windrows of pine needles. Most hay rakes can be adjusted to just touch the ground or alos so they do not hit any ground.

Don't have the problem in this area but my Brother in Law up in MI has the answer. He outfitted his landscape rake with a pair of 8" adjustable height commercial lawn mower tires and it works perfectly.
