I wanted to say hello to everyone! I am a new member here, but I have been reading the forums for the past few weeks because I was interested in what I needed to look for in purchasing a Ford 8N . It is from my understanding that 1952 was the Ford 8N was manufactured and Ford came out with I think was the Jubilee or Golden Jubilee. I have also heard these tractors (the 1953's) being referred to as the NAA. I don't want to confuse these tractors because I am a beginner and I'm not really up to speed on the 9Ns, 2Ns, and 8Ns yet.

Anyway, after looking for a few years I finally found the 8N that I have been looking for. I bought mine from a business that is located here in Central Indiana that reconditions these tractors. The serial number on the left hand side of the engine block reads 8N511635 and I was told that it is a 1952 which is the exact year that I wanted. The main reason why I bought this tractor is because the winters here in Indiana can be really brutal and I got tired of shoveling my driveway every winter. So I am hoping that my 8N along with my grader blade will be able to handle keeping the snow cleared from my driveway.
More importantly I look forward learning more about these tractors from each of you. Last but not least I wish each and everyone of you a happy Thanksgiving.

Bryan

BishopNsunset said: (quoted from post at 22:34:35 11/17/07) I bought my 52 8N from my wife's great uncle about 12 years ago. He had owned the 52 8N for about 30 years. It had been converted to negitive ground when I got it, but I changed it back to 6V and positive ground. The old girl runs great for it's age, and the tires that are on it were on the 8N when my wife's uncle bought it 42 years ago.

I use it mainly to drag logs down to the bottom.

My nephew is looking to getting it when I get old, and I'll be 59 in two months.

Still young!! He may have to wait 20 years or more...

JMOR,
Thanks for the link to your Website. I really do appreciate it and since I have saved it to my favorites list I will be sure to access this Website for future use.

Bruce,
Thanks for the advice on those Fifty different tips. I have printed them off and will be keeping them for future reference.

Bishop,
It sounds like to me that your 8N has been a great tractor for many years. My best friend"s grandpa also had 8N and being around his tractor when I was younger it really made me want one even more.

The 9N came out in 1939, the 2N in 1942 & the 8N in 1948. 1952 was the last year N's were made. I think you will find out that it is an easy tractor to maintain & will take care of the driveway just fine. And, lots of folks here can help you keep it running.

I've heard about Indiana winters; my wife is from South Bend.
