I'm a long time reader, although I seldon write.
I do have a question of sorts. The left brake on my '52 sidemount just up and quit. It turns out that the weld of the brake support (8N2212B) plate where the fork of the shaft mates broke. I assume that this can be welded back.(?) That area of the plate, where the retract spring attached, has been ground down along with a large protion of the spring anchors. What would cause this? The hole for the retract spring is 3/4 gone.
Do I need to replace the support plate?

Thanks,
Ronin

I found the same problem with my 48 when I did the brakes. I welded it back on. No problem.

Look around on ebay when someone is parting out a whole tractor and you can usually buy a support for less than the cost to weld it.
