I read an article the other day, sorry, no link, that mentioned if the weight is off the wheels the grease has a better path to where it is most useful. I think this is right, though is may not make allot of diff. What say ye?

The spindle/king pin bearing is hollow toward the inside. The grease can enter no matter how much weight is on the spindle/king pin.

Visualize the king pin/bushing_areas when the axle supports the KP (jacked up), versus when the king pin supports the axle (tires on the ground). Sort of like releiving the back lash, letting the grease get to the actual friction point. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it, then again, I've been known to waffle allot. Ummm, waffles.

I think you are referring to the grease fittings on the front spindles. That's how I was taught to do it 45 years ago.....which might not mean a thing! Anyway, It doesn't take long to jack up the front of the N when I grease it.

Bruce, thanks for the response. I guess I will be doing the same, taking the weight off when greasing the KPs. And, probably greasing it quite a bit more often than before. I just got done changing the Spindles.

I meant to say, when you grease the kingpins to have the load off wheels. Take me by what I mean, not what I say.
