'49 8N Front Mount.

As expected I have oil soaked brakes. They haven;t worked well in the 3 yrs I've been caring for the tractor. I do keep the tran/hyd level down to the bottom bolt hole.

Read lots of good stuff in the archive and on J.Smith's site but have a question.

Since this is a "older" 8N I only have the outer oil seal. Can I use the shure seal 2N/9N solution or do I just live with the presumably less effective single seal. Since that frugal Henry wouldn;t have added an inner seal if it wasn't needed I'm guessing just the outer isn;t perfect.

Thanks in advance.

Phil..... .NO unfortunately, Sure-Seals only work on 9N/2N axle housings.

Seals don't last forever. Pay attention to what John Smith has to say and buy some parts and gofferitt ..... ....Dell

Yep...he was somewhat frugal. However Henry also knew that oil leaks will eventually stop all by themselves. Sorta knew the FORD family years ago.

Lee Iococa only said one thing when gett'n outta the Beechcraft product. "BUY" or was it BYE??

So moral to the story: Those guys made fine products. All we have to do now is "keep 'em runn'N.

John,PA

I am gett'N my Ford Van ready for a 3,000 mile cross-country trip. So far, I have found that new (rebuilt) NAPA brake cylinders have only a useful life of about 90 days before leaking. Course for most folks they will have left town by then.
