Found this on a near by forum...Thought I would repost it...

The typical PTO shaft can:

(1) Wrap up over 6 feet of shoe lace per second. How long is your shoe lace?

(2) Wrap your arm or leg around the PTO shaft nine times in a second? How flexible are you?

(3) Produce second degree burns on your skin when caused by synthetic cloth movement at high speeds.

(4) A very strong man can generate about three-fourths of one horsepower. What is your tractor HP?
Capped mine off today. Wont be using the brush hog till spring...

First step remove grease fittings from ORC. Rotate ORC till you see roll pin. Drive out roll pin... Took about 5 minutes...

Sean, Thanks for the reminder for the group. Two years ago my buddy was doing some dirt work on his property. Way out in the middle where no one could hear him if he got hurt. Anyway, some barbed wire got tangled in his implement. Got off to get wire out and before he knew it lost his pants in one fast and furoius tug. Had to walk outta the field with not pants on because he was so shook up over the deal. He has since sold his tractor but keeps me up to date on his ordeal regularly. A PTO cap cost about the same as a pair of pants. Everyone should have a PTO cap handy.

Mark.

I THINK it's 3/8 inch, pretty sure I use a 4 inch 5/16 bolt to drive mine out

Sean..... ...most split rollpins used with ORC's on the 1-3/8 PTO are 5/6"x2". Readily available at most hardware stores, etc..... .Dell

I store my ORC in a gallon zip lock baggie along with the bolt I use to drive out the shear pin. The baggie keeps crap out of the coupler and grease from getting all over, I always have the bolt handy too for driving the roll pin in/out.

Good reminder, Sean. We tend to get too comfortable with our friendly little tractors and forget how fast they can become very dangerous.
