Anyone know what year models used a cast iron lift quadrant?

This is a stamped steel one on my 41 9N...Bent up. Tried to fix it but not to happy with it. Someone bent it cuz it didnt have a friction disk. Been rubbing metal to metal for years from the looks of it. Much longer and the lever would have been cut in half!!

Here is the current one...Stamped steel...

That is not cast iron. Probably drop forged steel or cast steel. Cast iron that thin would break like glass.

Touch it to a grinding wheel. If it throws off a very dull dim red it is cast. If it throw of a bright red and yellow spark it is steel.

Nope!, I'm going to wait and see what the snow does, this month. I can't see running the sled on gravel roads with not enough snow. We need a good pack on the roads to ride. It don't take much gravel to chew up a track or the runners on the skis.

Course, We could trailer up high then go from the trail heads., but... that is a pain in the butt.

Pretty easy soaked it in a electrolysis tank over night. Primed and painted it today. glad I checked it early today. That ball is aluminium. Electrolysis will eat aluminium fast. Had to sand the ball a bit and finish it with steelwool...

Get that sled out yet?
