Re Replacing 1948 8N Left Axle Shaft

I'm going to do some brake work (leaky seal) and also thinking of replacing the left axle shaft, the threads of which were "farmerized" as the locking nut is non-standard (smaller). What steps are involved once the hub and drum are off? Hope it doesn't involve removing the trumpet. If it does I think I'll leave my working tractor as is. Thanks in advance. Angelo

If you are replacing the seal, the axle is simply pulled straight out once you get to that point. I suggest investing in an I&T FO-4 manual for this and all other mechanical repairs you may do in the future.

That is good to hear you have the right manuals. Make sure to shim the bearing prelead correct when you put it back together.
