I have seen some N's with a front push blade that works some how in conjunction with the lift to raise and lower it. I have never been able to get a close look to see how they are made and hooked up and I would like to make one for my 2N.
Can any of you guys give me any info on how to do this??? Any pictures, drawings etc. would be greatly appreciated. I make most all of the stuff need to work with and this is something else I NEED.

I had one on my 8N that was a solid frame bolted to the fender mounting bolts in the rear and the front axle in front. I lifted the plow with a hydralic cylinder that was plumbed of the bottom cover of the rear end. Just chained the lift arms for the 3pt hitch down and used the liver to operate the front cylinder.

The main problem I found was that I needed a lot of weight hanging off the back to get any traction.

Richard,
A few years ago I built a front mounted plow and frame to put on my 2N.
It used captive oil in two hyd. cylinders and the 3 point to lift the blade.
These photos have been all over the web but I haven't seen them around for a couple of years now so maybe it's time to repost them.
The advantage of my setup over the Dearborn was I could raise the blade a full 20" whereas the dearborn with it's cables only raised it about 8".
These photos were taken when I first built the thing and do not show subsequent modifications such as a Much better plow to frame connection, skid shoes and spring loaded blade tilting mechanism.
I've since sold that plow so can't get you more pictures of it. If you need more info you can email me.
Jerry

Ultradog..... ...thanks fer re-posting yer very clever hydraulic front plow lift scheme. I've always thought some weight lifter platters on the 11-hole drawbar would have been an excellent (and cheap) lift response improvement. I've saved yer pictures on my new computer for future reference..... .Dell

Richard---here is the Universal Frame and some pictures of one mounted on a 49N Tractor. There was a dozer blade, snow blade and V-Snow blade that worked with this frame. Of course, there were a lot of neat variations made by piecing together parts by more creative people than I.

If you look close you may be able to see the rear support bracket and chain attached to the 2 fender bolts.

The cable sheave assembly sits on the inside of the front brackets.

The front plow works great, but when using the heavy 90wt. in cold weather, it takes some time for the lift to get up to speed to raise the plow.

This is how mine looks. There's an offset bar that goes across the lift arms and two plates that hold the cables to the front axles.

It works off of cables.

I can't pull em up right now, but maybe in the AM.
