Replacing brakes and want to know which side is right, the left side has 3 springs and the right has 2, does it make any difference? thanks

My '49 is like yours....3 springs on the left and two on the right.

I'm not going to argue it, but both sides of mine are the same, 3 springs.

Both are correct. There are two retracting springs on the left brake because there is more hardware between your foot and the brake shoes.
