I have recieved a few emails with ????'s about this. IE; what are these called, where and how do they mount on the tractor, where can I get the parts,???? and the answer is : A picture with info. about what they are and what they do.

Hopfully I have not made any mistakes on this info, and would like to have anything wrong brought to my attention.

This info and pic. is meant to hopfully help anyone, needing answers, on Instellation and and what they do.

BTW: Both of these sets pictured here are a TSC sold item. I would recommend buying these IN a SET for ease of instellation, and also recommend the heavyduty sets, as they are 3/8th inch thick, and do not bend as easy as the standard sets. JMHO

Farmer Dan used to have a pic of what happens to a 9N with a homade swinging draw bar. Not a pretty site...Not the way to remove your PTO shaft...

You cannot put a belly drawbar (real name...Swinging draw bar) on a 9N or a 2N., unless you make one to fit. There is NO connection place for them on the bottom of the 9/2N. I did see a modified one on a 2N, but it only lasted about 4 mos., as the bolts broke off that it was attached to, and even when it was ok, the flat drawbar had to be used.

Two of the emails I recieved, about this very thing, delt with,...."Someone told me, it could be used on the 2N/9N. WRONG!@!! ONLY on the 8N and only if the 8N had the proper connection places on the belly. Mis information, when you are dealing with the 9/2N.

Hi, DUNK

why not buy the belly draw bar and be done with it? i have one on my 48 and wouldnt trade it for anything. i keep my carry all on my tractor when i bushhog to pick up trash limbs rocks or whatever else i find while im out, with the other set up i cant do that. the belly bars are cheaper and can be found about anywhere. have a pull type 5 ft bushhog by the way.

Well, John..

That would be my plan with my 8N. I use my lift, and need it for I want to do, and I run STABILIZER bars on everything that I have.

(there may be reasons that have came up lately that I might not want to do that)

BUT, I think we are talking 9Ns here, and fer some reason, I seem to recall, from somwhere, that the 9Ns don't have the tapped and threaded holes on the bottom....

I could be all wrong though...

Dunk....you are not wrong.I would like to add that one MUST NOT attempt to drill and tap holes in that location on the 9-2ns.The 8n rear center housing is made diff from the 9-2ns in that there are "bosses"cast into the housing for the purpose of drilling and tapping holes for a drawbar bracket without getting into the hyd. oil sump. The 9-2 housing is not strong enough to support a drawbar bracket and will cause the housing to break if this is tried. don b

Just something to add, maybe for newbies - the PTO should be DISENGAGED when using the stay bars.

Hank...just to add to your comment. The lift should not be used when stay bars are installed, either up or down. don b

Neat photo, our 8n has homemade "very stout" upper arms. The tractor was my grandad's and he worked it hard. He was pulling silage trailers int the late 60's and warped the staybars that were the orginial ones. He went to a local welding shop and the make the new ones up out of 1/4 steel with a 1/4 steel support in a T shape, they will not warp or bend. I still have the tractor and staybars now.
