1948 8N has 1 cyl with low pressure(65). I want to replace the sleeves/rings this spring. Have read the lit. online here and really feel inadequate to do the job, but know in my mind, basically what to do. Can someone give me their phone # so I can talk through the process? I'll pay the phone bill(unlimited) so its no problem. What I'm trying to do is come up with a bullet point document outlining everything to do.
Also, how do you determine what rebuild kit to buy? How many hours does it take to redo sleeves/rings (not taking motor out).

Thanks

Send me an e-mail and I'll give you my phone number. Or you can look in my web site for it. Do the wet test and it can/will tell you a lot more as to whats up with your engine. Also running it with say 1 QT. of tranny fluid with 5 gal. of gas can help if you have sticking rings or sticking valves. MMO works also but tranny fluid will cost you about half of what MMO costs

No. I need to do a wet test. If the wet test shows a good comp. #, what then do I do for a valve check/fix?

I agree with the others.. do a wet/dry test.. then go from there.. if the valves are bad.. the ring job gets you nowhere..

If a wet test brings it up significantly, it's rings, if no improvement, it's valves & go from there.
