Ok I understand the 8n does not have live PTO but exactly what does that mean ? Or is it "live hydralics " ? Now you can raise and lower the 3 point without the PTO engauged right ? And you can raise and lower it with the clutch either in or out right ? Not sure I got this right ?

It will hold as long as your hydraulic system is up to snuff - if you have a really leaky system it may leak down, but in theory the lift will stay up. Mine will stay up as long as the PTO is engaged, and I've got a pretty good leak in the lift cylinder. I have the parts, I just need the time. :?

Live PTO still runs with the clutch in (or on some models with the clutch half way in).

Live hydro still works with the clutch in.

so..the 8N's have NO live PTO and NO live hydralics right ? So in other words every time the clutch is pushed in you have no lift and no PTO right ? Also if the PTO isn't engauged you wont have hydralic lift right ? So if you have a back blade for snow etc you have to have the clutch out to lift the blade ?

Thats one of the problems with the N series tractors PTO has to be engage and the clutch pedal up for hyds. or PTO to work. When they went to the Jubilee/NAA they had live hyds. but not live PTO. Live PTO didn't come out on fords till the 660/860 models. But many other company's already had live/independent PTOs and hyds before ford did

You have it!
Drop blade and plow. Stop, place tractor in neutral, let out clutch and raise blade, push in clutch shift to reverse every time

Yes the blade will come down with the clutch in ir out, depends on where you move the touch control lever to. The N has hydraulic pressure up, but relies on gravity to bring it back down.
