My front wheels are way out of alignment.

The cause was, I think, hitting a small stump while the wheels were cranked to one side.

In the seat, looking from above, instead of | | the wheels are more like / \
I took a quick glance in the FO-4 but haven't had a chance to go out and try anything yet.

I didn't hear anything when it happened so I'm not sure if something in the link bent or what yet. What should I look for?

I had the same problem on my 2-N when I first bought it. The old fella that had it bend both tie rods so they were more or less (a lot less) aligned. The fix if nothing broke or sheared it to take off both tie rods at the arms coming out of the steering box with a "pickle fork". Then take hold of both steering arms push the right side forward and pull the left side back. Puts the old girl right back where she needs to be. You'll find this proceedure outlined in the FO-4 manual. Good Luck, J.L.

Someone on another site said it might be the woodruff key that sheared.

I'll try to get to work on it this weekend and see what's what.

Could be something bent bad, but if steering wheel is straight ahead and both front wheels are like that - means it's in the steering box - something in there likely gave up the ghost when you hit the stump.

Bill, someone else will post about this but the big problem is that it is OUT of Time in the gear box. It is probably ONE tooth off and that can throw it off by a LOT. I think it usually happens when you have it turned pretty sharp to one side and then Hit something. I am pretty sure there is a way to put it back. I know it didn't do things any good but it probably didn't break anything. I'll watch for another post on this subject. I also have a 2N but have not had this problem yet. B. Jones

B. Jones, I hope you're right that its just jumped time and nothing is busted. He's probably gotta open up the box anyway, so he'll know when he does.
