This was gonna be the payday I recover from buying this 8n. Banged the front wheel on something while plowing and tweaked the hub. I had to finish plowing and it was grinding and popping nicely and the wheel was pretty sloppy. Now I have to do emergency surgery. Hopefully a bearing kit will suffice and hopefully last night was the heaviest snow fall until payday. I want to replace all the wear and tear parts, but was hopeing to do it in warmer weather since I don't have a pole barn yet. Ok, my left eye quit twitching, you can go back to your coffee now...

Make sure the inner bearings at the stub shaft get greased if yours is a 4x4. Those aren't sealed, but they don't tell you to maintain them and if the stub shaft gets damaged you can't replace it alone. You have to get the whole axle assembly.

 I guess not. I wasn't blameing the tractor, I was driving it and hit something. Just had a minute here at work to vent. Looking up part numbers now. Actually , with the loaded tires and chains, I'm doing pretty good compared to my neighbors 2 y.o. new holland. for a fraction of the price.

Boy you said it!!! I replaced the left front wheel bearings on my '48 N - kit has 2 bearings & cones for around $25 IIRC. Had to replace left front wheel bearings on my Ford 350 truck - nope, must buy entire hub (greased for life they are (life = about 80K miles)) - hub cost $450 & labor was another few hundred - gotta change out the studs, etc. - what a joke (on me, I guess). I'll take the old reliable machines every day vs this newfangled stuff.
