After posting a pic of my '42 2N, someone commented on the extended front kingpin as a wartime part designed to support the hand crank. My question is, is this an original Ford part, or an aftermarket part?

I'll post the best pic I have; looks like a little outie.

Thanks,

Thanks Den - I was wondering about that. Looks like you have an interesting set up there - I'd like to see some more info on your setup, like the magneto and that alternator.

GunPilot ,It looks like your original radiator is in good shape still. My original radiator nothing was left but the tubes in the core. The horizontal fins were completely deteriorated. It was that way for years and never leaked a drop.It ran a little warm when pulling it hard like plowing on hot days. Both of the tanks are great shape I was going to have it recored but cant find a shop that can get a heavy duty core like the original. It looks like someone changed your brake peddles I think I may change my brakes like that to have them both on the right side.Have you had it running since you have had it and if so, how good does the left brake work?

GunPilot ,Your Question, is this an original Ford part, or an aftermarket part?Yes it is,It was for added support for the hand crank during the war years. When the 9n and 2n did not have a starter, battery or generator. They just had a magneto steel wheels, and a hand crankum. The copper for starters and gennerators ,lead for batterys to make bullets.Tire rubber for truck tires and tank tread.

My 1943 2N has a new one just like that. I made one on the lathe because I couldnt find one to replace the old one that was worn where the bushing rides.
