I just rebuilt the engine on my 9n tractor, and have started it a number of times. To get oil pressure, I have to prime the pump each time I start the thing. Any Ideas to keep it primed properly?

As Lumpy Say's,,, are a worn out pump,,, ell fit'n pump cover,,, worn pump cover,,, haft arse pump rebuild,,, You need to chuck the pump in a vice with the pick up tube on the pump and give it a work out,,, I find 9 out of 10 the solder joint is cracked. If I were to go as far as to drop the pan and did not find a problem I would use a external pressure tank and pressurize the oil system,,, look real good at the oil feed tube that runs front to back just under the cam,,, I have herd of one that got a hole in it.

Oil pick up tube has a crack in it or where it seals to the pump, is sucking air. Oil weight shouldn't matter. I've run 10w and 40w and multi it doesn't seem to matter.
