Does anyone know which rebuild kit contains the discharge nozzle pictured above? It came out of a Marvel-Schebler carb from 8N #312458. I stopped by TSC and picked up the TSX241 rebuild kit, it all looks right except the discharge nozzle in it has the threads at the end, not up by the hex. I went back to TSC and took a look at the nozzle in the TSX33 kit and it looks very similar to the one in TSX241. The carburetor might have been changed at some time, who knows, but so far I haven’t seen a rebuild kit with this style discharge nozzle.

Thanks, Ron

Thanks everyone!

Bob,
That would explain the same nozzle in both kits. I googled TSX428 and the nozzle shown looks like mine. I’ll stop by TSC and see if they have a kit for the TSX428.

Old,
Nothing broken, just a nice machined surface at the end of the nozzle.

Hobo, I’d say you’re right on somewhere along the line it got swapped.

Here’s a pic of the carb. Most of the pictures of the 9N, 2N & 8N carbs I’ve seen have the name on the bowl not on the flange. Not sure if that’s typical of the NAA/600 carburetors.

I’ll ditto that! I got a black one (wish I could remember who I bought it from on-line). The dang thing has cracks in the bottom and the top, sucking air to the point that I need to run ½ choke just to keep it running at an idle. It also leaks gas on my floor. Pretty much useless!

I just this past week cleaned out one of the look alike Marvel Schrebler aftermarket carburetors and it had the threads on the discharge nozzle at the bottom. Not like the one pictured which is at the top. It also had a plastic venturi that I really didn't like but it seemed to be still good and did run OK once I got it cleaned and adjusted and reinstalled.

Someone has changed the bowl,,, that looks like a 600 carb discharge nozzle,,, run the old nozzle,,, differently not a 33/241 type

It mite B possible to swap the throttle and choke shaft and run a 428/580 carb on a N,,, never tried it myself

Can't say for sure but are you sure that maybe the treads on the end didn't brake off and you still have part of it in the carb?? I have run into that a good number of times when rebuilding carb and they do brake at times and can then be fun to remove the bad parts

I have a genuine Marvel catalog "TSX series for Ford Tractors", covering TSX-33, TSX-38, TSX-83. TSX 241A, TSX 241B, TSX 241C, TSX 420, and TSX 428.

It shows the SAME nozzle (#47-180) for TSX-33, TSX-38, TSX-83, TSX 241A, TSX 241B, TSX 241C, TSX 420. I know from experience this is the nozzle that's threaded at the END.

For the TSX-428, the nozzle part # is 47-270. I DO NOT know what that nozzle looks like.

The New Holland parts site lists only one nozzle, as well, for the whole "run" of the 9N, 2n, and 8N tractors, and kerosene used a different setup, altogether.

Marvel carburetor nozzle # 9N9530.

Nozzle, Carburetor Main, Years: 01/01/1939-12/31/1952
