Looked at a nice 52. Been all repainted with a nice paint job runs good said it was rebuilt 800 hours ago, runs about 30 psi oil pressure, has a back blade, great rubber, front and rear lights, 6 vlt starts right up, Sherman tranny. The guy want 3300.00.

It does have a leak in the gas tank or so it seems that it looks wet from the seam near the battery and has run down the bottom of the tank. Also one brke seems to grab. Otherwise seems to run and steer fine.

Isn't 3300 kind of steep ? Not sure I would even need the Sherman, do you shift that on the fly or stopped ??

Whatcha think ??

Here in the deep s/e it would go quickly for $3300.00. Saw a very average looking, good running 8-N that needed paint priced for $3500.00 a couple weeks ago. The guy was taking no offers and seemed sure of his $3500.00

Hey, I bought my 51' 8N with 6-cyl Funk conversion and hi/lo Sherman off of Ebay for 3K. Well, sorta. It did not sell at 3.5K so I bought it after the listing ended by phone. The guy had lots of good pics and described everything very well. After picking it up in SW Missouri, everything was as described and I was happy and still am.

I found one for $1500 outside of Rochester NY. Little TLC and She was up and going. I then tore it apart and rebuilt it. Keep looking they are out there. I saw a Ford 601 for sale down the road from our house. I think it was $2800.

Osweld...$3300 sounds too high for the tractor you describe, but I'm not in upstate NY.

That's how I came about my first one. Had directions to go look at an old Workmaster the guy had left on a jobsite but I never could find it. Happened to look over at this old barn & there was an 8n with a for sale sign. For $1250 got it, cultivator, carryall, some kind of hay rake looking rig & a horse drawn disc.
They're out there, keep lookin'.

It depends if you are buying or selling. I wouldn't pay $3300 for a 8N , but now on the other hand I have 2 I wouldn't sell for that cheap. Your call , probably at that price your not going to make any money on it , but if you don't have to put a lot of repairs in it and you need a good tractor, well not bad. Stan

Still drive buses every day but don't have to deal with the public or traffic now. Service persons fuel , check fluids, drive thru wash rack and sweep clean & park for next days use. Stan

Most of these old tractors have had to earn their keep,,, werked like a redheaded stepchild,,, some have had the good life,,, its luck of the draw,,, even if you know what to look for

Another thing , 12 years ago I paid probably more than I should have , but 12 years later if I gave it away it does not owe me a thing. With it's help my property has improved more than I could ever expect , I could never afford to have someone do the work that tractor has done.It is unbeleivable the amount of work these little tractors can accomplish. Prices of N's in my part of VA are higher than in the more rural areas, and seem to be increasing. An N in that condition around here would go for $2500- 2800; add another $200 for the Sherman, so $2700 - $3k. If I wanted the tractor, I'd offer him $3100 & tell him that I need to replace the tank. Assuming of course that N's in that condition go for $3300 in your area.

Sherman for $200. installed? CHEAP!! If it is an under drive $800 maybe more, over-under 600 and up. Good paint job, ( tear down , sandblast , replace/ repair parts, decals, repair/replace sheet metal, original headlights/tail light, reasemble). If you count your labor an easy $1000. or more. I would not think you would go too wrong if it drives out. My 2 cents worth. Joe

Osweld, NEVER, Never buy a tractor off ebay unless you can see it with your own two eye's first. Then if they tell you something about it, believe about half of that. The ebay feedback system is a plus when your checking on someones honesty but then you still have to read between the lines on positive feedback. Buying parts is fine but a whole tractor or vehicle is out of the question unless your buying it for a parts tractor price. Save your money and look for a while. A good deal will come your way when you least expect it.....

I would never buy a vehicle off of e-Bay, but that's my personal preference. Shipping costs can get expensive as well. Paying $3k or more for a tractor that I did not check out personally is not my idea of a wise investment.

I think the $3300 is high for an 8N but if it looks nice and runs good then really whats a few hundred bucks? I bought a Jubilee fully restored for $3000 CDN and have used it for 3 years with nothing other then a clogged carb so ....
who's to say...
the blade and good rubber also are an attractive bonus though so $3300 may not be to bad.. check your local area to see what they usually go for...

Prices can vary by region. Around here, that would be on the very high side.

Never shift a Sherman while rolling. Come to a complete stop and keep your foot on the clutch while shifting a sherman.
