Had the same thing on my 2N. Was not going to stop till I got it running like I know it is suppose to run.I just can't stand a motor that don't run right no matter what it is in or n..Spent too much but finally found the problem..It was weak valve springs even though they were new..New springs and now runs like a sewing machine...Prior to this I had replaced all valves, guides, had valves reseated etc.....

Not unusual at all. Sometimes you can play with the timing or carb. adjustments and get it out, sometimes not. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I spent untold amounts of money, time, and research trying to find this on my 1952 8N. The tractor ran fine, but the miss was very annoying. I pulled the head and lapped the valves, rebuilt the carb twice, replaced spark plugs and wires, replaced points and condensor, replaced the coil, replaced the ignition switch, and a host of other small tweaks. I posted several times here trying to brainstorm the possible solution - many responded but we could not fix it. I found that I could retard the timing and it would mostly eliminate this miss, but at the expense of power.

Never did really find out the cause, but I know it did not really affect performance and many seem to have the same issue - so I look at it a "character".

You are a man after my heart. I have spent a life time trying to fix insoluble problems. You deserve an A for effort.

I doubt it.

Probably just needs some love, and a good day of plowing.
