Brakes, brakes! Gimme a break! Can't find in Archives. When (hopefully) I get to installing the new axle, I can't find how it could be held in position to engage the differential gear--seems would be difficult trying to hold it from the outer end. Dawned on me that if put the hub on and just snugged up the outer nut, maybe with help I'd have the leverage to guide the shaft home, remove hub and get on with brake work. Is this how it's done, or what? Thanks again for all your help. Angelo

I had the same concern the 1st time I reinstalled an axle. The next ~50 something times I knew it was no big deal. Just grab the outside end and push and twist a litle and it will go right in. Good luck

Assuming we are talking 8N, due to you saying the hub and the nut.

It seems that I was able to slide mine in, and then still had enough leverage to push down on the outside end, and raise up the inside end.

If I recall correctly.

I don't recall it being a problem.

Thanks, Dunk. I forgot to mention '48 8N. Angelo
