ok carb has been rebuilt, gas is going to carb for sure can pull drain plug and gas come out. compression sucks but i am still getting a good pull of vacumm at carb just by it pulling my hand. does poor compression really have that effect on pulling fuel from the carb?

Take the carb off, take it into all of the pieces that you are comfortable removing, if there are jets that don't want to move, leave them alone.

I hope you have an air compressor, because that is a requirement for working on carbs.

You will need a blo gun for the air compressor with a rubber tip.

Make sure that you can blow air thru every orifice, and hole in the carb.

ok good spark. ignition is all new new coil new point new wire new plugs

plugs are dry after trying to start side mount dist. did dry and wet compression. first 1 and 2 cylinder around 30 on compression 3 and 4 bump from 60 to 80 . wet compression is obviously the higher numbers. starting fluid doesnt get to plugs either. i have even put starter fluid directly in clinders. just smoke a little with fluid directly in cylinders tractors hasnt ran in over 5 or more years dont know why it was parked. i have been through the whole engine. honed the clinyders alittle bit and readjusted the valves and lapped them. i think the valve seats on 1cyl are borderline

Doesn't take much compression to fire ether put directly to the cylinders - must be evaporating before you get it all in and ready to go, but it does take a spark..... .

If it where my tractor I would fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and let it sit a few days. It probably has stuck rings and or valves. I have seen this happen over and over again and all of the ones I have done this to the compression has always come up to readings that are good enough to run. And yes low compression like that will keep it from sucking gas into the cylinders. Another way to get it to start but I don't like doing it is put a table spoon of gas in each cylinder and try to start it. Done that before just to get one to start so I could get in into my shop

6v or 12v, front or side distributor?

If it sat for 5 years w/o running, & it has low compression, it might have stuck rings. Pour 1/2 cup of ATF or MMO in each cylinder & let it sit a couple of days. Then, another 1/2 cup & another 2 day wait. Then, try starting it. And, check the compression again.

6v or 12v, front or side distributor? Troubleshooting is different, so let us know what it is.

Have you checked for spark? That could be the problem.

Get an old plug, open the gap to 3/16, ground it to a rust & paint free spot on the head, turn the key on & crank the engine. You have three possibilities: no spark, weak and/or intermittent yellow spark, or a bright blue spark. What is it? Next, because you have checked for fuel by opening the drain bolt in the carb, try starting fluid.

Was the tractor running ok before you rebuilt the carb? If so, the compression didn't go bad over night.

If you have a good spark & starting fluid does not work, try jumping it. Tip # 43, below, will tell you how to do it safely.

What are your compression numbers? Generally it seems that anything below 90psi on all 4, you"re going to have a lot of trouble starting.

Have you done a wet and dry compression test?

How do you know you"re not getting fuel into the cylinder? Have you tried starting it, then pulled a plug to see if it was wet/smelled of gas?

Have you tried replacing the plugs with new ones? Autolite 437s gapped 0.025. These engines are easy to flood, and flooded plugs don"t fire as hot.
