Richard, I sent you an e-mail with more information about this air cleaner. If you did not get it, send me a private e-mail. Philip.

You would be surprised to know a lot of times when you put one of those filters on you will loose power. I put one on a pulling tractor one time and it lost so much power it was amazing. Put the stock set up back on and it was normal power again. You have to do alot of modifications before you benifit from a paper filter like that. Plus the oil bath set up works so much better

Doesn't it make you wonder how long it had been since it was cleaned out? Another testement to how forgiving these machines are. Can you imagine if you restricted your car's intake that much?

I'm no expert, but I think for these tractors the oil bath air cleaner is the best (and only) way to go. There is a cyclone precleaner (I think this site sells them) to get the heavier particles out.

Have you taken your air cleaner apart and cleaned it really well? When I got my 51 8n, the top of the air cleaner (where the air enters) was so packed (like, chisel it out with a screwdriver packed) with dirt that the air only had a 3/4" hole to get through. The oil cup was filled with sludge, and and the steel mesh element was nearly clogged. I cleaned all that, and it ran like a different machine.

I'm not even aware of any other air cleaners available. I may be wrong though - I think I was wrong once before. :)

Just my 2 cents, and what worked for me

Hey, thats what I was doing today, gosh, it took awhile to get that crud out of the inner pipe, close to the oil bath. The wadding at the bottom was plugged pretty good, top roll was clean though. Finally got it all clean and ready for paint!!

I'll tell ya what, if you look down in that inner tube of the canister, wow, I had to work at getting that caked up stuff out. soaked it all in a bucket of simple green overnight, and then it came out with a thermos brush!!
