This is a picture of one of Maplehillpat"s tractors posted a few days ago. Anyone know if these one piece rear wheel weights are available anywhere?

Thanks--Tim

Re: Wheel Weights Available?? TONS of 'em here!! in reply to 8N'r--WI, 02-05-2008 06:15:15
A company named Wilkerson-Nuttwell had a foundry here and made those single rings for many years. Also front weights for 16" and 19" rims. The rears each range from 275#(2.75" wide) up to about 600# @6" wide. Actually, it"s kind of unusual NOT to find them on a tractor around here. I"m not exaggerating when I say they are as common as weeds here. The local tractor salvage yard has them but they"re too expensive there. I know a farmer that has about 50 "N"s and Fergies that he uses to pull trailers in his vineyards and orchards. He always pulls the weights off and has at least 50 sets of rears and maybe 20 fronts. I have a 3 ft tall stack of them myself. Good luck finding some close enough to get to.

Those wts are around. I have a set on my 8n and 2& one half extra. I believe they were sold by or for use on olivers, in addition to fords. My one set is painted green. I dont have liquid in my tires but do have the full circle wts and they do a good job. If I remember correct they come in different weights with the heavier wts about twice as heavy as the lighter ones.

My 1950 8n has a set similar to that except they are 2 half rings, not all one piece. they were on it when I got it. About 150# on each side.

Nice!!

I have seen the 3 piece and the pie weights, and a set that attached on the inside(closest to the driver) of the rim, but never a one piece unit like in the picture, or a 2-piece like you have.

Of course, maybe I have not looked hard enough!!

Tim,

I'm sure we were not the only fellows drooling over those weights.

:-)

Colin---I have never seen any one-piecers before these.

Sure would work nice tomorrow-----supposed to get 10-14" of snow starting tonite.

THAT MUCH snow will probably make the rear wheels want to spin when I plow----- ---oh well, I will just have to spend more time on the tractor taking smaller bites off of the driveways!!

I wonder if they still have the molds? They are still in business.
