dodgecbr..... ..ah yes, the "other tractor club" and their great archives of original Ford factory manuals and technical bulletins. Re-read 3b.

They hate my gutts but I don't care, but it made for some very acrimonious N-Board postings and upset our genial webmistress Kim who, with the powers of "administrator", blocked them from posting for 30-days. Which irritated them no end and so they started their "own" bulletin board. They never seemed to understand the concept "Kim's sandbox, Kim's rules". ..... ..respectfully, Dell

dodgecbr..... ..after reading the full Ford Technical Bulletin, it is a TB for when you REMOVE the sidemount distributor and re-INSTALL it.

Since the sidemount body is 360deg rotative in the block, just as the rotor shaft is 360deg rotative inside the distributor body; Ford included instructions for proper installation in the block and hence their "0-deg" spec. (and even Ford makes mistakes 'cuz they got the sparkies wires cap installation incorrect, firing order is 1,2,4,3 CCW)

The 5-nipple sidemount timing is 4BTDC at IDLE (400-500rpms) as determined by flywheel timing lite. (see 3b)

It is also the same as 0-deg static. (that means engine NOT running) Static is best determined by a "test-lite" lighting (NOT Ford's sparkie jump example) when the points open at 0-deg on flywheel by manually twisting the distributor body in the clockwize direction. ..... ..HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

..... ..well kinda depends upon whether yer distributor is the 5-nipple sidemount which has the teardrop cover for the 4-deg timing mark ...OR... yer distributor is the earlier 4-nipple frontmount which has NO teardrop and is timed at 0-deg by 1/4in drillbitt on the kitchen table..... ...Dell
