I sure everyone gets tired of hearing about the dishonesty of others but just so no one lets their love of tractors cloud their better judgment, I will share.

Sunday night a fully restored, 861 PowerMaster was listed on craigslist with photos for $2300. I responded that I was a very interested party and with out going into to much detail here is what happened. I got a hard luck story claiming to be out of the country with an urgent need to sell this item using a E-Bay :?: holding company to handle the transaction. I could not see the tractor as he didn't know where it was, as it was picked up by this holding company, but upon their receipt of my wired money, they would deliver to my address with a 10 day money back guarantee. Naturally I couldn't do business this way, exchanged several e-mails trying to find some truth. He took the position of being offended that I had pledged my interest and now he had wasted precious time with me. I reassured him my intent was real and that it was his transaction process that was troubling. In the mean time I researched craigs list scams and I found a laundry list of items that had been run in a scam that was a carbon copy of this story. I gave this jerk a final reply that I was out of the game and he could repost the tractor with... and then I included the list of items this guy had ran scams on. Naturally I never heard from him again. I just can't understand how people like this can live with themselves. Be aware... we all ain't good people. God Bless those that are, to heck with the rest.

ToMater, Yep a scam alright. Saw a good deal on a Kubota last night with bachoe and loader for 2300,00. Had scam written all over it. If it's too good a deal pass it up. I for one would like to get face to face with these kinda folk.

I had a guy try to scam me when I was selling a diesel mercedes on craigslist. He e-mailed me and said he would send a money order for 3 times the amount I was asking and I could keep my amount plus 500 for doing it that way. And sent the rest back to him. I sent him an email back telling him exactly where he could put that money order, and now I only post phone numbers and take cash on stuff I list. There are a few bad people out there who ruin it for alot of good people.
