Is it necessary to remove the crank pulley to remove the front cover? part # 6019. front dist (8 1/2n) seems to be a bit of both 8n and 9n. I have all the bolts off the govener support plate etc.. it is cast so didn't want to bfh it. thanks as always.

Charlie..... ...what Dunk sezs ...and... tip: stuff some soft 1/4" rope down enny sparkie hole to stop the crankshaft from doing a 360 against the cylinder head. Why? 'cuz that BIG crownhead bolt that holds the pulley on is torqued to 150ft/lbs ..... ...Dell

If I recall correctly, something makes it really hard to remove without removing the pulley.

Also I think there are at least 2 bolts that come up from the bottom, if you miss them you will break it.
