I thought needed a trans input seal but after removing the engine (ford rebuilt 6 years ago) I found that the real problem is the seals at the rear of the crank. Yes the clutch seal is a little moist and the ends of what look like the shift rail are moist, they are not causing the clutch to be grabby and oil soaked. my questions are. Is it safe to put this engine on a stand with no oil pan? I am worried about stressing the upper block where it mounts too the stand. Who has the best gasket sets for this job. I am going to do all except head and timing area. Thanks for your input guys.

Yes it is safe. The pan is only there to take the stress of normal operation while using the driveline as the frame (does that make sense). Engine does not weigh enough to worry about damage when on a stand by itself.
