I have a 1948 8N and wonder if anyone has pics of their front snow blade setup. Also-wondering if the Zane Thang would be a good addition and way to make this easier.

Looking for a simple, low cost way of doing this-and want pics if possible.thanks.

Here is a guy who mounted a 6" meyers on his. You would need to be 12V

Check out the local used tractor yards. I found this Ford 705 dozer for $250, needs a cutting edge, but it was well worth not having to fabricate one.

Residence, Mich. I'm, at the moment, in the New Braunfels, Texas, public library.
I rescently picked up a Ford model 705 dozer blade off of a Ford 2000 LCG. I want to mount it on my Jubilee. I will have to make the brackets to mount it and then connect the lift cylinder to the remote. Unfortunately, that will be a job for warmer weather.
My son just called and said he plowed 4-5" of snow last night with the back blade. Darn, he is getting my fun.

Send me your email address and I'll send you some pictures of the front mounted Dearborn snow plow. The one Jerry built is even better. ron4turkey@aol.com

Eriklane,
Soundguy may be referring to my plow.
Several years ago I built a front mounted snow plow for my 2N.
I didn't like the cable lift system that Ford had built for the Dearborn models so I used two hyd. cylinders in a closed loop system.
When the 3 point was lifted it pushed the oil out of the rear cylinder to the front and raised the plow. With the lift mechanism I made for the front I could lift the blade a full 20" which I thought better than the 8" with the Dearborn.
The pics at the link below have been all over the web but are still instructive for showing what I built.
They are from when I first built the plow and do not show subsequent modifications to the blade such as a turntable for angling the blade, springs to allow the blade to tip forward and adjustable skid shoes to prevent the blade from digging too deeply.
I never did take any photos of those upgrades.
I have since sold that tractor and plow.
An N with a 6' plow, wheel weights and tire chains will move an incredible amount of snow.
If you'd like more information you can email me.
I'm always glad to help fellow tractor nuts.

I've seen pics of a 'closed loop' front blade. IE.. the guy built a mast and frame on the front axle where a bumper would mount. Had a front blade that had arms that went back to the rear axles and mounted to brackets under the fender nuts. the blade was mounted in front to a cyl that was mounted to the mast. ... the cyl was a SA cyl. a hose went from it to a larger SA cyl that was mounted between a 3pt drawbar, and the toplink connection. IE.. when you lifted the 3pt lift, the large SA cyl was compressed, and pushed oil thru the hose to the front which then powered the SA cyl up there which then lifted the blade.. relaxing the lift let the weight of the blade uncompress the front cyl by gravity.. etc..... was a neat setup.. all closed circuit.. the large sa cyl at the rear is the fluid power resevoir.. etc.

That clever idea came from the fertile mind of Jerry (aka Ultradog). Couldn't find the pic in the archives. Maybe Google....
