Andy..... ..feller on page 2 asked essentially the same question..... .."I started up my 2N to plow the drive way tonight. It is cold 25F but after a few cranks it started up. I let it warm up for about 5 min and then tried to get going. Tractor was running rough after trying to break it loose of the snow and ice. I tried to start plowing but under load the tractor sparked and died. After that no life. It is still a 6v system. Not sure what the problem is. Could use some help with the diagnois." My answer to him..... .."yer 5-min warm-up may have "killed you". You could have "frosted" the guttz of yer carb and plugged them little jetholes. Its called "carb icing" and a well known phenomena to small airplane pilots who must pull power robbing "carb HEAT" on the engine so it don't die when they idle back on approach. Bett'cha you can go out and restarter now. (the latent heat of the exhaust manifold will have melted the carb icing) Iff'n yer gonna warm up yer tractor, use about 1/2 throttle. This will gittcha past them itty-bitty idle jetholes. Remember; carb icing is a "weather phenomena" with the right combination of air moisture, air temperature, carb temp. (carbs always gitt cold when carb-bing, its the physics of air expansion) Iff'n it still happening, wrap some aluminum foil around yer exhaust pipe and carb air intake pipe. (cheap, eh?) Did you know yer belchfire-V8 also has a secret "carb heat" passage underneath the intake manifold? I first ran into it in the "high desert" of New Mexico when this ol'Plymouth 6-cyl quit running and coasted over to the side of the road and carb was white with frost. Us teenage boys were going to ElPaso-Juarez Mex for some "custom double-eagle" cowboy boots and some nitetime fun. (grin)..... ...Dell, dreaming of lost youth" PS..... .in cold weather, ALWAYS start out in REVERSE to "un-stick" yer frozen tires without rotating yer tractor over on yer back!!! BOTTOM LINE..... ..ain't nuttin wrong with yer tractor..... ..Dell
