It seems that the carb spacer is missing and they used a homemade thin paper gasket. And when I tighten the nuts the studs but up against the manifold, alowing an air gap between the carb and manifold. Can I get one of those spacers ? I thought about making one but that's a lotta work . I looked at carb kits and they come with a fairly thin gasket too. And I thought about shortening the studs, I don't realy wanna do that.

Andy, maybe you can make a heavier gasket or gaskets. Card stock or a milk carton come to mind. HTH
