Always trouble starting the 8N I bought last March (newbie). I purchased the "real" battery cables from this site. But initially couldn't get the positive one on. Tried again this week when up in the country with help. What a difference, with those automotive cables off, and the real tractor battery cables on it cranks without choke or starting fluid, and it is a throaty roar. Thanks to all for help.

S Russell,Yup keep em clean bright and tight for good starts. Also s little battery protector or gun grease on the connections will keep them from corroding.

That gun grease works good too... I did some bat mainenance on some tractors that have some 2-4yr old batteries.. and the cables i had cleaned last year and greases were all looking just like I had left them last year..
