Another question can i put a proofmeter on my 49 8n?

Unless you just want the stock look of a proofmeter, go to Northern Tool and get a digital tach that is universal. They cost about 40.00 (cheap compared to the rest) and are fairly accurate.

Adam,Yes you could,you would have to have a proofmeter,a drive cable and a different governor with a proofmeter drive commin out of the back of it.

The governor needs to have a threaded "nipple" at it's back end, to accept the tach cable housing, AND the appropriate shaft and drive sleeve INSIDE the end of the shaft.

well a new gov. assembly that accepts a proofmeter is about $250 - $300 so looks like i will do with out for now.
