So, I was changing out the manifold today and had the exhaust pipe disconnected and just hanging down there below the manifold with the end opened like a small funnel opening up into the blackness of the tube running down a bend into the muffler. Next I removed the carburetor and all of its connections. Started to remove the rearmost nut from the manifold, and being the klutz that I am, I dropped the @#*&$ nut. Want to guess where it fell? Yep, right down the exhaust pipe and rolled almost half way to the muffler. The good things are:
I have one of those flexible grabber things to fish it out of there. A magnet wouldn’t work because the @#*&$ nut is brass.
I thought it was funny, can’t do much else, and doesn’t do any good to get angry

Gave me an excuse to open a beer

The wife didn’t see me do it

Waaay back when, I had a Model A Ford. I was 14 and decided to use brass stove bolts to hold the coil to the firewall. For some reason, all the spark plugs were out (Model A spark plugs use a 7/8" thread) Yup, one of the screws went right in to the cylinder. No such thing as mechanical finger in those day, so, off came the head.

Dan,
I took a weeks vacation in Mid febuary for Bad days in the shop =better than work and time to regain some sanity.Been fighting with a to20,Finally got the sleeves out (never come across a tractor remotely close to pulling sleeves=they were tough) after much cursing broke 2 pullers, put new sleeves in,new piston, rings, wrist pins, bearings, wrist pin bushings=yup got to the last cylinder=broke a ring,Had to bow my head and walk back in the house=Wife knew by my appearance not to say anything.Hopefully new set of rings will be here Weds.=Yeap were not in stock at local tractor store had to order. When it runs and purrs like a kitten it will all be worth it=still better than work.
Justin
