Osweld,
N's run all over the price range.N's are a hobby of mine.Mi/Oh/PA area$2500 is the majic number fo a decent 8N.I have one for 3500 am pretty firm=New Tires/Tubes and rear outter rims=1K plus.I have also sold some very nice mechanically sound n's for $2000=I happened to buy them right. You get into overhauls and Money adds up really fast.
-I would let the N go cheaper with different tires
-Another example I have a TO-20 little more hp that a N.Overhauled it and have Mega Money in it.$2500 I would loose money on the Deal=This is why some are more than others=Not to mention time(but again I like to do it)=keeps me out of trouble.A tractor like this is good for Many years
-Painted /not painted is beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.I personally do not paint unless I am 100% positive there are no mechanical issues
-Actually sold a nice painted 8n with decent rubber(my brother is a collision guy) for less than $2000.meachically sound tractor=Had to make some room in the garage.Be paitent and you will find good deals///I do it for fun and to keep the tractors alive=Its all about fun

As long as you have a tow vehicle, it's far cheaper to find one at a good price and move it to your place. I rented a Uhaul car trailer for $50.00 last summer to pick up a 51 8N in your area to haul to my place in NE PA. I paid 2300 for it since it had brand new rear tires and a rear blade. Useable as is, no leaks, decent sheet metal, good paint. (missing correct grille and plug wire bracket was all) I wouldn't let a few driving hours decide the price. Finding one with wheel weights is a big plus. Figure gas prices to get them from another state if and when you find them. Mine's complete now, and I wouldn't take under 3000 either, (after ignition wires, plugs.... all fluids) and that's without wheel weights.

Considering the cost of a lawn tractor, thre grand is not too much (in my humble opinion) My neighbor has a jubilee he may be selling. I can inquire for you. I'm in the finger lakes area. Dave.

That sounds like a good deal with the plow and the trailer to haul 'em on.

You just have to keep looking. I hauled all the way from Arizona to Indiana to pick up 2 8N's that were suppose to be '52's {my birth year} to find out they were actually both '51's. Not the end of the world, but confirm what you are buying. Good luck, another thing to remember, DON'T LET THE PAINT JOB DECEIVE YOU. Another boner I made! Inspect before you buy.

Well..... your 'in the knowers' don't know all that much then.
A decent 8N in that condition and with a Sherman Combo in it for 3300 wouldn't last 2 days here. In a LOT of areas, any 'N' even worth having starts at 2 large and on up to 4 large for a pretty one, or even an ugly one if it has good tires and a loader.

the one is a 52 with inside wheel weights, chains, back blade, nice paint, looks like one wheel seal is leaking, looks like seam leak in gas tank, has Sherman combo tranny 25 psi oil . Still seems more like its worth 2500 not 3300 but maybe im wrong

Osweld,
Are you looking for a worker or something to make into a show tractor?
Folks here will call me a heretic but before I spent $3300 on an 8N worker I would look for a hundred series or a NAA/ Jubilee.
