I am looking at belly mowers for my 8n. Does anyone know anthing about a Contennetial mower? Also , if I put the belly mower on can I still operate the rear pto or do they run off the same power source. I am a complete novice to this , I just purchased an 8N in really goo shape with a rear blade , 3pt hitch, rear trip bucket and platform for $3,000.00. It also has fluid filled tires is this good, bad or indifferent?

Hello Nick
I have a KR60 Belly mower for my 2n At first it was a pain to put on and take off,but after fooling around with it it takes me about ten minutes and is not to much of a problem. I made myself two ramps out of 2/6 3 high 3ft 2ft &1ft
Place them in front of the mower and back up and over no problem, the leveler the ground the better of course. It came with my 2n when I bought it I liken this mower on my tractor to a big cub cadet it does a fine job and fast to boot.It does take the PTO to run it to answer your question but it is not all all that bad to change. Good luck Bill G in KY

I have a Woods belly mower on my 2n. It's good for straight lawn mowing and getting around trees etc. and doesnt take up much room in the garage. It's bad for taking on and off, for rough ground, and you can't use the pto or the 3 point once it's attached.

Belly mowers are fine except they aren't easy to hook up and take off. You might want to consider a rear mount finish mower. No matter what you get , it will still gets it power from the PTO. And, if the tractor that you got is in good running shape and those implements, not a bad deal atall.
