Well, it burns a gallon an hour. At 2000 rpm's, it goes 13.64 mph, so it should get 13.6 miles to the gallon! My F-150 4x4 gets 15 mpg. The N is not very economical to operate fuel-wise, but I think you will sacrifice performance for fuel savings. I'm going to put an acre down in buckwheat this year & not having to take the time & expense of mowing it is one of my motivations for doing that.

It really attracts the honeybees, which is great for pollination. And, it reseeds, so it keeps the acre green all summer until I plow it under & plant rye for a winter cover crop. I don't have any way to thresh it, so I buy my buckwheat flour at the mill!

Unlike modern "politically-correct" carbs, the carbs on these old beasts are fully adjustable, and can be set according to current operating conditions. Probably hard to beat by another carburetor.

My son and I have done some fooling around with fuel injection on an 8N using GM components. EASY to do with some of the stuff on the market today. For ONE source of universal fuel injection, GOOGLE "Megasquirt".
