Can an 8N be converted to a 2 stage clutch for better PTO control??

A 2 stage clutch would require a differnet input shaft design...

There was however a pinion clutch that allowed you to clutch the drivetrain via a hend lever, while keeping the pto going.. thus as long as you did not step on the foot clutch.. the pto ran, and the tractor stopped moving.. this gave you a pseudo live pto... however these 'kits' are extremly rare..

If you have to have a 2-stage clutch / live pto.. get a ford 660 or similar hundred series with a *6* as the middle digit.

Since nothing is impossible, with enough time and money, and since I have seen pics of N tractors with jet engines, I hate to say No, but in a word, No.

The key to the 2 stage clutch is the tranny, and the tranny shaft (I think I am right on that).
