I saw where there are several home brewers (beer)
on this board so I gotta question. Anybody here ever make a pepper flavored brew? Several years ago I put a few jalapenos in the boil and made beer. Strained em out of course before I fermented it. When you drank it it had just a bit of pepper aroma and a little pepper flavor. A few weeks ago I decided to try it again. I used a Canadian Blonde kit, sliced up a dozen jalapenos, boiled them in a bag with the wort, then removed the bag. I opened the primary last friday just to check the aroma and man is the pepper smell strong!!! I may end up using this to cook with, but I am going to bottle it next saturday. Any rule of thumb on how much fruit to add if you don"t have a recipe?

The best thing to do to beer when your done making it is to distill it into something drinkable that's at least 100 proof!

Not 100 proof, but I made a beer that was 24 proof using champagne yeast. That sucker had a kick to it for beer :-)

I made a habenaro beer once. I did not boil the peppers in the wort - I plopped them in the carboy during fermination. Was not too strong this way.

In my travels thru the SW USA I have seen several different Jalapeno Beers. I don't brew it nor even drink it but I bet if you did a search for it you would get lots of hits. It's a actually a pretty common thing.
