Has anyone seen one of these that will fit an 8N?

Looks like input at bottom, output at top. If that is the case, why step up?

Correct me if I am wrong here.... (and I may very well be)

The bottom looks like the input.

The bottom is smaller and appears to have 14 teeth.

The top is larger and appears to have 17 teeth.

My feeble brain tells me that is stepping down (slowing down).

Slowing down the amount of 0.823529412 ratio or 14/17

Now if one used the 540 speed for the 14, one would end up with a 444.7059 speed.

I may be off me rocker though.....

?????

I have seen two other versions of an adapter like that. One was either on this site or another Ford N Tractor site. The other was at a tractor show. The one on the tractor site was determined to be for some implement, but can't remember what. Pretty sure it wasn't a Ford brand implement though. With so much aftermarket equipment available back then, guess it could be for any number of things.

Tim....the Ferguson side-delivery rake had a similar chain-driven pto attachment. I've never seen or heard of a Dearborn version(doesn't mean there's not one), but the one in your pic doesn't look like the Fergy to me.

Hub City makes both reducers and increasers.

I don't think the tiller driveline would like that stepped up PTO speed much. An even then the ground speed is too fast. Your best bet is still a Howard or equiv.
