If they had used the right bushing...The price is right!!! The pin is good to go. Ill reuse it...Will brazing and filing it out be good enough?

I can't answer your ?? on the brazing it part, but what I am told is, that bushing is supposed to be solid in the axle bore.!!!!, all the way around. The bore looks to me like it is egged out on the axle.

I'm just guessing here, but it would seem to me that egged out area should be built up and made to fit the bushing tightly.

I think you should contact TOH, and ask him that ???!!!! His email is always open on his posts, on the mod. forum.

JMHO

Just removed the front axle pin. The pin is made of soild round stock and what looks to be a plastic bushing. The pin has 2 holes and a grease fitting to grease the bushing LOL I just happen to have a new bushing on hand fits the custom pin perfect...Time to clean the axle and have a look at that for cracks or egg shaped hole..

Sean;

Told ya, you should pull it and have a look!!!!! NOTHING surpises me about that "FIX", after I saw what was on mine. The pin on yours looks very good, ..... .if it goes from the face all the way through the back of the support craddle, and the grease fitting and passage is OK I guess, but..... That bushing is a story by itself. LOL!!!!

Gary :roll: :lol:

I cant take credit for the axle pin. I just bought this one and I am digging in to see what is what...Looks like a pretty recent repair dont it? looks like fairly new tie rod ends to. I still dont know why it was left for dead. I am waiting on a head gasket. Then I am going to try and start it...

 King Pin and Steering sectors in reply to Sean (TX), 03-15-2008 18:04:17
Hi S.TX. Good job on the King Pin. I've been using solid pins as replacement and they work great.Henry Ford put in starters so we didn't have to crank, right? Several years ago I needed new steering sectors and a friendly mechanic had a couple in the junk pile that were in pretty good condition. He gave them to me with the understanding they may not fit because he thought they were not for a 9N. A little fooling around and they are still in and working. Good luck on your project. Ron

If you remove the steer'n gear set keep the shims in order, makes it nice to set back up, for you info a very nice set of gears will fetch as much or more than a new aftermarket set
