ok all is well again
to all the guys who tried to help thanks

it turns out that the new solinoid was wired different from the original and i had to turn it so the small terminal was facing out .

Part 8N11450 - STARTER RELAY, 6V

8N11450---Starter motor relay, 6 volt, 3 post. Mounts on top of starter. For 8N (1948-1952).

these solinoids are being sold as a replacement but they are different.

hope this helps anyone else who has my problems.

Yes..... solenoids made bassackwards are out there.Buyer beware!I would use a meter on any new one first,before installing. don b
