I have 1950 8n over heating. changed the thermostat and I pulled the water pump and there was some sunflower seeds on it and it did not seem like the the pump was bad but going to replace it anyway. do you think something could be plugged inside? if so is there a way to flush it out?

Do you think there could be a clog inside the engine? I did flush the radiator last summer but i can try it again. the over heating problem seemed like the coolent was not cirrculating top hose was hot and the bottom hose was cold but clogged radiator would also make sense. thanks

I'm with SouNguy on this. Sounds like radiator plugged up.

I f you left the bottom hose off, for any length of time, (don't take long), I suspect that you had a rodent of some kind, take up residence in your radiator bottom tank. Guess what, rodents love seeds of any kind. Sunflower seeds, ect.. Take the bottom hose off at the radiator, and flush the radiator into a 5 gal. bucket, if there is debri in the rad., I'll bet there is a dead rodent in there, and or his nest.

Just a thought.!!!

Gary :)

Hot top hose, cold bottom hose points to a plugged radiator.. not a plugged block.. however you can backflush the block from the top hose port if you want.

If yuo fill an 8n radiator tot he top, it will spew out water till it is down to a level that is just over the core.

Now.. if you think the radiator is clogged, stick a garden hose in the top and turn it on.. radiator should pass the flow from a 1/2" hose just fine.. if it can't.. back flush it see if it helps..
