I am happy as can be. My great uncle just gave me the ole tractor I use to drive in the tobacco patch when I was a kid. I has been sitting in the field for about 4 years. Motor still turns over by hand. He put new tires on it about the same time he last drove it. They still have the paper on the tires. Looking forward to getting it running again. I have learned alot by reading the post on here.

What an awesome gift!

In addition to what Dell said about the gas, pull the spark plugs and put a tablespoon or 2 of automatic transmission fluid in each cylinder. Put the plugs back in and let it sit for a few days. This will help loosen and lubricate parts that haven't seen oil for a while. I have a short memory so I label my plug wires when I pulling them off so as not to get them mixed up later on.

You should also drain and refill the engine oil first, and check your coolant level before a start.

Osduck..... ..congratulations and welcome. Recommend you squander $25 (cheap) for the 152pg I&T FO-4 manual.

Best bet to gitt'chur "prize" started is to DRAIN ALL GASOLINE BEFORE you clog-up yer itty-bitty carb jets. Modern no-lead gas gums-up carbs.

Theres abuncha good helpful hints in archives and 'course yer stumped, ask away. Its been asked before..... ...Dell

Thanks for all the advice from everyone. I first must put a new starter and bendix on. Yes, I already tripped the bendix. Had it installed but was afraid it would not work properly. Now that I have read the threads, I should have just left it in. Purchased the book and looking forward to Saturday to see if I can get it to run. Thanks again!
