These are solid drag links, and I would like to change them to the newer threaded kind. I can not get the nut to tighten, it spins and spins.

Question: Upon trying to start I broke the starter clutch pin with a loud thud. I also broke a tang off the distributor. I had spares of both and finally got it started after playing with the distributor. Problem was no oil pressure was showing for a very long 10 seconds when it first started. It finally shot up to 20 psi. I was getting 105 compression on all cylinders prior to starting, wet, since I was trying to lubricate the pistons with some oil. The engine runs very smooth now but I hear like a twanging noise. It seems to be amplified from the exhaust. I don't know the history of the engine. Did I do some major damage while that oil pressure was absent? I also primed the pump through the priming hole with at least a cup of oil before starting.

Dunno about the 'twanging' noise (sticky valve maybe???) but I bet the ten seconds of no oil pressure was just the filter canister getting filled up. I think you had oil pressure to the bearings. I'm think it'll be fine.

The ROPS is from SAF-T-CAB, and I thibnk they are in California. I got it 8 years ago and even then it was close to 500.00. I think they go around 800.00 now. There are cheaper ones out there.

I think Oh BOY hit the oil pressure on the head. I drained the oil canister and changed the filter but forgot to fill it back up before starting.
