If it is a 5 speed like mine(851) try wiggling your shifter lever in various positions(up, down, left, right) while trying to start it. With age the safety switch goes out of alignment with the shifter and it becomes difficult to activate the switch(in neutral only). Others have mentioned having the same problem. If it's not too far gone you may still be able to start it this way. Joe in NYC

Sounds like the NDA tractor is an 800 series with 5 speeds forward, 1 reverse. Center position (vs forward & back) is neutral and gear choices are stacked 2/2/2 up and down, if you can get it to the neutral position. It does have an interlock, so if you can"t get it in neutral, big starter switch on the tranny won"t work.

The NAA4024 is a 1953 Model NAA "Golden Jubilee" tractor. The NDA should denote an 800 tractor. The SN for it is located on the flat spot just behind the starter. See the link for more details.
