Sounds like it could be a Knoedler seat. Does it look like this one? I found this photo in the Parts & Pieces Gallery.

The Knoedler seat was an aftermarket seat that could be set for different spring rates to match the size of the operator.

I have one of these that I took off of my 8N. All the bushings are worn out. I would be willing to part with it for the shipping if any one is interested.

I have one similar to your picture and it is very comfortable. The only problem I see with mine is that it reduces the leg room. I need to be shorter! (Or SLIMMER)

Here's a possible solution that I found on a tractor. Remove your seat and bolt this to the tractor. Then bolt the seat to this spacer. Result is seat is higher and farther back. I'm still waiting for a roundtuit before I can put this on my 800.
