I've found a wealth of information about the red and grey but not much on wheel color.

Did a 19508n have grey rear wheel rims or white? two-color?
What about the fronts?

Here is a Google search of this site for Cadmium

There may even be different colors of Cadmium???

Here is a search of Eastwood Paint for Cadmium, and they show both a gold, and a silver.

Lug bolts & nuts, oil filter canister bolt & timing gear cover bolts were also zinc plated. Gas tank, wire tube, throttle rod & plate were cadmium plated. At least, that's what the color chart says.

For sure Bruce, I don't know.

Just what I have heard, or read somewhere.

I beg to differ, Zinc is used for galvanize, and yes it is a silver color.

I think the rear wheels came Cadmium, which is an impurity in Zinc, which is kinda of a yellowish silver color.

I could be wrong though.

Re: 8n rear wheel color? in reply to Dave Beck, 03-01-2005 07:03:03

The original rims were Silver Cadmium plated. Since a real Cadmium plating job would probably be astronomically expensive most restoration jobs will use a silver colored paint to give it the right "color". SouNdguy found a Cad paint in rattle cans when he was doing his restoration on his Allice G awhile back that looked pretty authentic...Tim
